After we left Auckland, it was time for sunny Gold Coast, Australia!
For those who are following and wondered why we went back and forth in Australia, I did some multi-city trip planning and it was cheaper and shorter to fly from Australia to Vietnam than from NZ.

We arrived at our Airbnb around late afternoon. We booked our accommodation well in advance that we managed to score a discount on our place, and it was right in the heart of Surfer’s Paradise.
We decided to roam around the neighbourhood before dropping by Woolworth’s to grab some groceries.

Unfortunately, when we were on our way to our booked activity, I discovered that my phone’s camera protector lens was severely scratched last night. It was so bad that every picture had a hazy to it and it led to me being very upset for the day.
We booked an archery and laser clay pot shooting at another resort. Luckily, it was just us so it felt like an one-on-one class. The archery was fun and my shoulders were sore for a few days but the laser clay pot shooting was disappointing.
Dan and I thought that we would have actual guns with laser points and shooting clay pots or dishes in the sky. In reality, it was a modified gun that shot with laser so nothing really exploded.
After archery and shooting, we went to Nando’s for lunch and then caught the Detective Pikachu movie to cheer me up.
I thought the movie was bad but so adorable! Dan hated the movie and wished he never seen it.

We had a very chill day.
We kept on walking across this pancake joint so for breakfast, we dropped by to see if it was any good.
We later went to an adorable mini golf range. I honestly didn’t want to do it but Dan went through this weird phase where he wanted to do some golfing everyday… I think.
If I recall, it started to drizzle a bit so we went back home after we finished the course.
After resting, we went out to Playzone, this gigantic arcade for the evening. It reminded me of Playdium but this was sooooo much better. There was a 4D zombie shooting game that I loved.

Dan’s manager suggested we do the theme parks while we’re down in the GC. Our roommate, Tiff, also told us her memories of heading down the GC for the amusement parks. So Dan purchased these 3 parks bundle tickets online and our first theme park was Wet n’ Wild!
But, before we went to Wet n’ Wild, we dropped by Topgolf. I love Topgolf and it was Dan’s first time. I kept raving about it so we had to drop by since the only Topgolf is in the states.
Wet n’ Wild was next door so we trekked over there. The last water park I’ve been to was Watermania in Richmond when I was a kid. Not going to lie, I was a bit nervous about Wet n’ Wild because I’m no longer a strong swimmer and I was also a bit self-conscious about being in my bathing suit.
There was one ride near the end of the day where it drops you down vertically. Like, you get into a tube, and the floor opens and drops you down. I only did it once just to say I did it but Dan loved it and went several times back to back before we called it day.

The next day we went to Warner Bros Movie World! I absolutely had a blast here and it reminded me a lot of Disney World but with DC characters instead. I’m a Marvel fan but it was great seeing some DC characters that I enjoy.
There’s this crazy hypercoaster called DC Rivals that puts all the other rollercoasters in their place. I have never been on such an intense rollercoaster ride before – literally, the first drop is a straight 90 degrees fall. I rode it once too many times but Dan went on it several times before we left. It’s lucky he never threw up!
Unfortunately, a good chunk of the park was closed for renovations which included the Superman ride as well. The stunt drivers entertainment was an interactive special so Dan was chosen to play the villain driver and they “shot and edited” everything on the spot. It was very cheesy but adorable.

To end the big theme park thing, we went to Sea World… which honestly, wasn’t my favourite. It was built entirely for kids and I found it rather boring. But, it was part of the theme park bundle that Dan got so we went anyways.
We would’ve left earlier but we wanted to catch the 2PM ski stunt show which I’m super glad we did because I had a great time watching these stunt performers. I honestly think this was the only thing I enjoyed from Sea World.
Later that night, we went to a ramen place that was supposedly award winning back in Japan (it was meh) and visited the Surfer’s Paradise beach.

Dan spent the late morning/afternoon learning how to surf while I went back home to just chill and relax.
Our Airbnb place had an all-you-can-eat korean bbq downstairs and I managed to find a Groupon so we went downstairs for dinner. We passed by it everyday for the week and finally gave into the temptation to dine there. We were initially put off by it because it looked really sketchy and no one was ever there.
We were right – it was meh and definitely not worth the full price.

Our last night in Gold Coast!
To celebrate, we went for an all you can eat seafood buffet at another hotel nearby. I was honestly disappointed because they advertised as seafood buffet but only had one small section for seafood. The one we had back in Melbourne was our favourite and we both miss it dearly.
But, I love my seafood so it was better than nothing!
