I turned 26 two weeks ago on the 20th. I’m not going to lie, I sort of didn’t want to. I felt 25 years a perfect age and number but what can you do?
After work on the 18th, I came home to a very lovely surprise from Dan! He finished up his last day at work and came home earlier to wrap up my gifts and set them up.
He allowed me to open 2 prior to my actual birth date. One of them being Holly and Jolly below –
I absolutely loooooove Christmas so it turned out that his theme for this year’s birthday gifts were all Christmas related. My other gifts included a Christmas themed bed sheets, a Christmas ornament and a 4ft Christmas tree for our little place! As much as I love Christmas, we actually never had a Christmas tree prior (he won’t let me put it up until after Remembrance Day which I agree as well).
For my birthday weekend, we went over to Nanaimo and I went to my first ever corn maze at McNab’s.
It’s a good thing we opted for renting boots because I wanted to save money and just go in with my Timberlands. If Dan didn’t push for the boots rentals, my Timberlands would’ve been destroyed and my jean all muddy. I did not anticipate how muddy the farm could be. Our car nearly got stuck in the mud when we parked.
There was also a pumpkin patch next to the maze and we decided to grab one because an old man pressured us into it, haha. The little guy was only $4 and produced some yummy pumpkin seeds!
And I know I’m the one with the birthday but look at how cute Dan was as a baby!
When I returned back to work, my amazing work fam decorated my desk and got me my favourite type of cake – DQ ice cream cake!
Overall, not a shabby way to turn 26! As my friend said, I made it over the hill. I’m in my last year of “mid 20s” and I’m excited for this year. I’m excited for my personal and professional growth and all the goals I’m working towards.
It’ll be another good year!
